• Artist of the Month: Kathleen Robinson
    Artist's Biography:
    As a child growing up in the tropics, my earliest impressions of the world were of lush greens and brilliant color.  In those peacetime days before the war, children were safe almost everywhere and I was allowed to spend my days outside, wandering and drinking in the beauty of the plants and jungle, and the tropical birds and butterflies.

    Though my parents felt I had inherited talent from a distant artist relative, I believe I could naturally draw and it was probably a love of nature that made me paint.

    As a lifelong birder, I paint birds, as a rose grower I love painting roses, and as a butterfly collector and enthusiast
    I naturally paint butterflies and their favorite plants.  This is most easily done in watercoler.  My surroundings, the lakes, ponds, and fields, I usually do in oil or acrylic.

    The most fun for me, however, is freely painting in almost abstract style, a work in oil or acrylic that I have not planned at all.  It's sheer enjoyment to see what finally appears on my canvas!

    Hoping that others love the natural world as much as I do, I paint to give them just a part of the enjoyment I feel.  I also feel that any talent I have is a gift from God that I must use.
