Interested in becoming a member of our artist's group? We welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings and see what we are all about. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 at the gallery. Our meetings are open door; however, every meeting is BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair)!
If you are interested in joining the Artists of Alexandria Art Gallery and displaying your work for sale, you must complete an application and submit a minimum of three pieces of finished work for review. "Finished" works are pieces ready for display in a customer's home or business. For example, a painting should be matted, framed, and ready to hang with appropriate mounting hardware.
All members are juried in through a review of their application and artwork by the Gallery Committee and Board of Directors. Only artworks which are originals created by the artist, or replicas of originals created by the artist (prints, giclee's, casts, etc.) will be accepted for display at the gallery. Memberships are accepted based on several factors, including quality of work, finished presentation, demand for this type of artwork in the area, and available space at the time of application. In the event a member is selected, but there is no available space, they will be placed on a wait list and notified when a space becomes available. An application may be denied for any reason, all decisions on applications will be made within 7 business days, and are final.
Members can select to display their work in a 5x5 standard space, at $55 per month, or a 4x10 premium space, at $90 per month. If there are spaces available, members may also rent more than one space. Once accepted, new members are required to sign a one year contract and abide by all gallery rules as outlined in the contract and bylaws. They must also provide a check for the non-refundable annual fee, and their first and last month's rent. In the event the member cancels their contract before the end of the year, they forfeit their last month's rent.
All members are expected to attend monthly meetings and regularly participate in committees, special events, sales, etc., at the gallery or around the community.
